What is…

I have been told that since I am from Mars and worked in Silicon Valley as an engineer that I must have rational scientific explanations for everything.

Yes and…as a yogi there is much that transcends modern/western explanations.

This YouTube video speaks to many of the “not scientifically proven” ideas that I have lived with as a yogi and martial artist (the esoteric principles).

Evidence That Your Mind is NOT Just In Your Brain – Rupert Sheldrake

In this episode Rupert Sheldrake, biologist and author, debunks the standard view that the mind is nothing but brain activity and argues that our mind is extended in every act of visual perception.

Rupert has designed an app to enable you to test your sensitivity to being looked at from behind, and to find out if you can improve with practice. The test takes just a few minutes to complete. https://www.sheldrake.org/participate . If you find you or your partner can indeed improve with practice, scoring repeatedly and fairly reliably above 75%, please let them know by email at sheldrake@sheldrake.org For more information about Rupert Sheldrake’s research, visit https://www.sheldrake.org/

This talk was part of the 2023 Holberg Debate at the University of Bergen with the neuroscientist Anil Seth and the anthropologist Tanya Luhrmann. The full debate can be seen here:    • Does Consciousness Extend Beyond Brai…

Ponder these ideas, then let’s talk about “What is…”.

Railhead Park Tai Chi

The Auburn Free T’ai Chi began meeting outside as result of the COVID-19 closure of public facilities, our beloved Placer County Library.

After trying a few places in Recreation Park we moved over to Railhead Park into the covered picnic area, in front of the pond. When the library reopened after COVID closure we continued to meeting on Friday morning at this lively location.

Today we meet here on Thursday and Friday morning, 8 AM. It is expected to be our venue in the forceable future, at least until summer 2025.

Railhead Park, 175 Pacific Ave., Auburn, California

Public restrooms and water fountain is provided at the park.

Sessions run from 8:00 to 9:00 AM. Since we are not time boxed at this facility please come with questions for the instructors after class.

Dress for the weather. Gloves/mittens are advisable during the winter months. The picnic area provide a cover to protect us from rain and sun.

This is a nice place to leave your car and go for a walk in the woods after Tai Chi (as it is in the vicinity of Overlook Park and the Auburn State Park).
